A 4x4 pickup for your trip or for your operation
We have worked in the Puna, the Andean high plateau of northwest Argentina, for more than a decade: we know the gravel roads, the altitude and what they demand of a pickup. We rent out the same 4x4 pickups we run in that operation, maintained by the same mechanics, to people traveling on their own and to teams working in the region.
A self-drive 4x4 to explore the north at your own pace: the Puna, Route 40, the Salinas Grandes salt flats, or a crossing to San Pedro de Atacama or Uyuni.
The same pickup with one of our drivers, who knows the high-altitude roads, if you would rather not drive on gravel or plan the route.

The units
4x4 pickups maintained in our own workshop
Our workshop was built to keep our own fleet running: the pickups are inspected and repaired by our own mechanics. Fewer days off the road after a breakdown.
On our own mining work the 4x4 pickups carry the equipment asked for at the gate: roll cage, buggy whip with flag, strobe beacon, fire extinguishers, a second spare wheel and snow chains. Entry requirements differ from one operation to the next, so we prepare the unit to what yours asks for.

Where a 4x4 earns its keep in the north
These are the trips most often made with our pickups. Several have long gravel stretches and climb above 4,000 m (13,000 ft): before setting out, check the national road status published by Vialidad Nacional, the national roads agency.

License, documents and border crossings
What the Argentine, Chilean and Bolivian authorities ask of someone driving a rented vehicle, according to their own official pages.
A license issued by a country that is party to the Geneva (1949) or Vienna (1968) road traffic conventions is valid in Argentina for up to one year from your entry. If your country does not issue a national license, you need an international driving permit, valid for one year from its date of issue. Source: argentina.gob.ar
We recommend bringing one even when your license is valid: it does not replace your license, it goes with it, and it makes any roadside check easier. It is issued in your home country before you travel.

As the owner of the pickup, we arrange the authorization for it to leave the country. That is why the border pass and the dates are set when you book.

What the rental includes
The price is quoted on the term, the arrangement (self-drive or with a driver) and the ground the pickup will cover. The quote goes out in writing, with the conditions clear from the first day.
Preventive and corrective work in Salta, by the mechanics who service our own fleet.
GPS on the units in service, for the length of the rental.
For destinations with no mobile signal, Starlink satellite connectivity can be added on request.
We coordinate delivery and return of the pickup in Salta, at the place and on the dates we agree.
Term, distance allowance in kilometers and conditions of use are set out in the contract, with no hidden costs.
How to book
From inquiry to handover, in four steps
An email or WhatsApp message with your dates, where you want to pick up and return the pickup, your route, self-drive or with a driver, and whether you will cross into Chile or Bolivia.
We reply in English with the quote in writing and the rental conditions.
You sign the rental contract and send the details of everyone who will drive: license and passport. If you will cross a border, we prepare the exit authorization.
We hand over the pickup in Salta, inspected in our workshop and ready for the road.

Travelers: a passport or ID, a current driver's license for each person who will drive, and a signed rental contract setting out the conditions of use and the insurance coverage that corresponds to this type of rental. With a driver, our driver is at the wheel and you do not need a license.
Companies: a current CUIT (the Argentine tax ID), a signed rental contract setting out the conditions of use, and the insurance coverage that corresponds to this type of rental. Our legal name is Lausof S.R.L., CUIT 30-71146774-9, and we issue Factura A (the Argentine tax invoice), with the data a supplier registration asks for. What people ask before renting
Is the rental with or without a driver?
Both. Self-drive, the pickup is driven by the people named in the contract. With a driver, one of our drivers, who knows the gravel and high-altitude roads, comes with it. If a company needs the trip handled end to end, see also mining logistics, personnel transport and tours and private transfers.
Do you rent to foreign travelers?
Yes. We rent to travelers from abroad and from Argentina, for the length of the trip. Your home license is enough if it is valid in Argentina; we recommend bringing an International Driving Permit as well.
Can I take the pickup into Chile or Bolivia?
Yes. Tell us when you book, with the border pass and the dates, because we arrange the authorization for the vehicle to leave the country, as its owner, before the handover.
Who does the maintenance?
We do, in our own workshop in Salta and with our own mechanics. Maintenance is included in the rental: the pickup is inspected before every handover and, on long rentals, on the agreed plan.
Where is the pickup handed over?
Delivery and return are coordinated in Salta, at the place and on the dates agreed in the contract.
Do you issue Factura A?
Yes. Our legal name is Lausof S.R.L., CUIT 30-71146774-9, and we issue Factura A, the Argentine tax invoice.
Can we deal with you in English?
