Experience

More than a decade working in the Puna

Lausof is a family-owned transport and logistics company based in Salta, Argentina. For more than a decade we have been going up to the Puna, the Andean high plateau: we move crews to mine camps, we take cargo and equipment to the salt flats of Salta and Jujuy, and we assist vehicles on the road above 4,000 m (13,000 ft).

Working at altitude is not improvised. The gravel, the weather and the distance are hard on the units and on the people, and a trip that is routine in the city takes planning, equipment and experience up there. That is why we work with units equipped for mine-site entry, drivers who know the road, and an in-house workshop that keeps the fleet ready to go up.

Our licenses, insurance in force and driver certificates are available on request for prequalification.

Services

What we solve in the Puna

Tell us what your operation needs. Quotes the same business day (Argentina time).

Crews to camps and shift rotations

Crew transport between Salta and the camps, in 19-seat minibuses (plus driver) with a professional driver. Fixed routes, rotating shifts or one-off trips, depending on how each project works.

  • 19-seat minibuses with a professional driver
  • Drivers licensed for the vehicle class, with a current medical fitness certificate (psicofísico) and workers' compensation insurance (ART)
  • On-board logbook per unit: every trip is recorded
  • Maintenance in our own workshop, so a unit that goes up comes back

Cargo and equipment to the salt flats

Cargo and equipment for lithium projects in the salt flats of Salta and Jujuy, with the unit each load calls for: a flatbed for machinery, a curtain-side or box body for general freight.

  • Truck with a hydraulic flatbed for equipment and machinery: 7.5-ton payload
  • General freight trucks: curtain-side and box body
  • 4x4 pickups for escort and supervision on gravel roads
  • Remito (Argentine goods-in-transit note) and Factura A

Mechanical support on the road and at altitude

Mechanical support above 4,000 m (13,000 ft), with our own equipment and our own people. A unit stopped in the Puna cannot wait for someone to improvise a rescue. We go up with our own mechanics, welding equipment and generator.

  • Mechanics from our own workshop
  • Welding equipment and a generator of our own, for recoveries where there is nothing on the road to help
  • Flatbed tow truck for moving vehicles and machinery
  • Satellite phone on board on high-altitude jobs

4x4 refrigerated truck for gravel and altitude

Cold chain to where an ordinary truck does not reach. Frozen and chilled loads at controlled temperature, for destinations on gravel and at altitude.

  • 4x4 truck with a refrigeration unit
  • Temperature log during transit
  • Warehouse with a cold room in Salta city, for storage and consolidation

The road

We know the road and the requirements

We have driven the road from Salta to San Antonio de los Cobres, the Salar de Pocitos and Tolar Grande many times, in every season of the year. We know how it behaves in winter and in summer, where the cell signal drops, and what a unit has to carry to get there and, above all, to get back.

We also know the mine-site entry requirements: units with the equipment demanded at the gate, drivers with a current medical fitness certificate, and paperwork in order. When one of our units reaches the checkpoint, it arrives with what it will be asked for.

Frequently asked questions

What buyers ask before we quote

Do you handle crew changes?

Yes. We move crews between Salta and the camps in 19-seat minibuses, on fixed routes, rotating shifts or one-off trips, depending on how each project works.

Are the units equipped for mine-site entry?

Yes. The 4x4 pickups assigned to those jobs carry a roll cage, a buggy whip, a strobe beacon, fire extinguishers, a second spare wheel and snow chains, and the drivers hold a license for the vehicle class, a current medical fitness certificate (psicofísico) and workers' compensation insurance (ART).

How do you operate above 4,000 m, where there is no cell coverage?

We carry GPS on the units in service, and on high-altitude jobs a satellite phone and Starlink satellite internet travel on board, so the trip does not depend on the cell network.

What happens if one of our units is stranded in the Puna?

We go up with our own mechanics, welding equipment and generator, and with the flatbed tow truck when the vehicle has to be brought down. A unit stopped up there cannot wait for someone to improvise a rescue, so the recovery is planned as a trip of its own.

How do we onboard Lausof as a supplier?

Our legal name is Lausof S.R.L., CUIT (tax ID) 30-71146774-9, with CNRT and AMT permits in force. We issue Factura A (the Argentine tax invoice) and we work with a remito. Send us your prequalification form at contacto@lausof.com and we will return it with the supporting documents.

Does your operation need to go up to the Puna?

Tell us what has to move (crews, cargo or equipment) and between which points. We reply with a quote the same business day (Argentina time).

To get a useful quote in one round, include: the service; dates; origin and destination; number of passengers, or cargo type, weight and temperature; your company and a contact.
