Cachi and the Cuesta del Obispo
The mountain road of the Calchaquí Valleys, with a long climb and gravel sections near the top.
Quebrada de Humahuaca and Purmamarca
The Cerro de los Siete Colores and the villages of the gorge, in Jujuy. The Hornocal viewpoint above Humahuaca adds a gravel climb.
Salinas Grandes
The salt flat, reached either through San Antonio de los Cobres or through Jujuy, in vehicles prepared for altitude.
Iruya
For travelers who want the far north. The road is gravel and slow, so we run it in a vehicle built for it, and it is best over two days.
San Antonio de los Cobres and the Puna
The area of the Tren a las Nubes and the La Polvorilla viaduct, which we also know from years of work in the Puna.

The practical part: what the road is like, how high it goes and which vehicle we send. Trips can be booked one way as a transfer, as a full day, or over several days.

We have worked with travel agencies for years. We know what an inbound program looks like: the timing, the stops that are worth making, and what it means to be at the hotel on time. We are a licensed travel agency ourselves, we operate all year and not only in high season, and we invoice Argentine companies with Factura A under CUIT 30-71146774-9.

What travelers ask before booking
Is this a guided tour?
No. What we provide is a private vehicle with a professional driver who knows the road. The driver knows the road and looks after the trip, but is not a licensed guide. The stops are yours to choose. If you want a licensed guide at a particular site, say so when you ask for the quote and we will tell you what is possible.
Do the drivers speak English?
Our drivers work in Spanish. An English-speaking driver can be arranged on request, subject to availability, so ask for one when you write. Messages in English are answered in English by email or WhatsApp.
Can you pick us up at Salta airport?
Yes. Pickups at Salta's Martín Miguel de Güemes airport (SLA) and hotel transfers are part of what we do, in both directions. Send the flight number, the date, the time and how many are traveling, and tell us if you are carrying oversized luggage.
Which vehicle will we travel in?
On the paved routes, a 19-seat minibus. Where the road turns to gravel or climbs into the Puna (Iruya, the Hornocal, the approach to the salt flats), we use a 4x4 pickup or a minibus prepared for those roads. We tell you which one when we quote, so there are no surprises at pickup.
How high do these routes go, and does it matter?
Salinas Grandes sits at about 3,450 m (11,300 ft) and the road there crosses a pass above 4,000 m (13,000 ft). San Antonio de los Cobres is at about 3,775 m (12,400 ft). Most people feel the altitude on the first day. We climb slowly, we stop, and if someone is not doing well we turn back.
Do you publish prices?
No. Each trip is priced on the route, the dates, the number of passengers and the vehicle it needs. Send those and you get a price, normally the same business day, Argentina time.
How far ahead should we write?
As soon as you have dates. Some weeks fill up months ahead and others stay open, so send the dates you are considering and we will tell you what is still free.
There is time on the road for the food of the region: empanadas salteñas, locro, tamales.
