Group transfer to the Quebrada de Humahuaca carnival, round trip from Salta
A private 19-seat minibus with a professional driver takes your group from Salta, or straight from Salta airport, to the carnival in Humahuaca, Tilcara or Purmamarca, and brings you back: every night, or with the vehicle and driver at your disposal for the carnival days. Nobody in the group has to drive.
Carnival 2027
Quebrada de Humahuaca carnival dates, 2027
The carnival of the Quebrada is the biggest celebration of the year in Jujuy: comparsas (carnival troupes) dancing through the villages, music in the streets, and the ritual unearthing of the carnival devil that opens it. Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 February are Argentine national holidays, so the main carnival falls on a four-day weekend.

Past dates
Lausof SRL is an independent transport company. We do not organize the carnival or any of its events, and we do not sell tickets or packages. Dates and programs are set by each town and by the Jujuy Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Dates checked on October 10, 2026 against the 2027 schedule published by Todo Jujuy and Qué Pasa Jujuy.
Getting there
Flying in and driving up Ruta 9
The nearest airports are Salta (SLA) and Jujuy (JUJ). From Salta the road goes through San Salvador de Jujuy, Yala and Volcán; Purmamarca is a short detour on Ruta 52, and Maimará, Tilcara and Humahuaca are further up Ruta 9. Driving times below are car estimates; a minibus on carnival traffic takes longer.
- Purmamarca — 179 km (111 mi), about 2 h 15 by car (estimate)
- Tilcara — 197 km (122 mi), about 2 h 30 by car (estimate)
- Humahuaca — 239 km (149 mi), about 3 h by car (estimate)
- Jujuy airport (JUJ) to Tilcara — about 115 km (71 mi)
On the Saturday of the 2026 carnival (February 14), Ruta 9 had long lines heading north from Yala toward the Quebrada (Todo Jujuy). We plan an early departure with time to spare.
As of October 10, 2026, no road closures have been announced for the 2027 carnival. If any are, we will add them here with their source.
Where to stay and how to get back
When the Quebrada is full, plan the return before you leave
During the 2026 carnival hotel occupancy reached 98% in the Quebrada, 98.9% in Tilcara and 98.2% in Purmamarca, and 97.6% in San Salvador de Jujuy, according to the Jujuy Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Many visitors sleep in Salta and go up each day. Three ways to set up the trip:
You leave Salta, the driver waits in the village and the return starts at the time you agreed. A good fit if you could not find a room in the Quebrada.
The minibus and driver stay with your group through the main carnival and drive you between your lodging and each night's village.
If you already have lodging in the Quebrada, we take you there with your luggage on the first day, from Salta airport if you are flying in, and collect you on the last.
The return time and place are written down in the chat before you leave. If someone is running late, the group lets us know on the same thread.
Your group and the vehicle
19-seat minibuses with a professional driver
Nineteen passengers plus the driver. Larger groups get a quote for extra vehicles on the same trip. Luggage for several days travels in the same minibus. Our drivers work in Spanish; an English-speaking driver can be requested, subject to availability.

Booking
What we need for a quote
Four things: which days, which village, how many people, and whether you are sleeping in Salta or in the Quebrada. If you are flying in, add the flight number and arrival time. We reply with a price for the whole vehicle and, once you confirm, write the pickup and return times and places in the same thread.
With the Quebrada close to full at carnival, write as soon as you have your dates.
Frequently asked questions
What visitors ask about the carnival
Can we go to one village one night and another the next?
Yes, with the vehicle at your disposal. We set a plan per night (Tilcara on Saturday and Humahuaca on Sunday, for example) and the driver takes you between your lodging and each village.
Can you pick us up at the airport?
Yes, at Salta (SLA) or Jujuy (JUJ). Send the flight number and arrival time, and the minibus takes you straight to the Quebrada or to your lodging.
Do you sell carnival tickets or packages?
No. We provide the transport only. The celebrations belong to each town and its comparsas; anything that requires a ticket is booked with its organizer.
Can we coordinate in English?
Yes. Write to us by email or WhatsApp in English and we reply in English, normally the same business day (Argentina time, UTC−3). Phone calls are answered in Spanish.
Do you publish prices?
No. The price depends on the days, the village and whether the vehicle stays with you. Send those details and you get a price for the whole vehicle.
